Originally added due to a schedule reshuffle caused by the pandemic, the inaugural race on 21 November 2021 at the Lusail International Circuit marked Qatar’s stunning entry into the motorsport elite.

Following its successful debut, Qatar inked a 10-year deal to host Formula 1 until at least 2033. Though the race paused in 2022 due to the FIFA World Cup, it made a strong comeback in 2023, complete with upgraded facilities and an enhanced fan experience.

Lusail at Night – Where Speed Meets Spectacle

Qatar’s round is the fourth full night race in F1, joining the ranks of Singapore, Bahrain, and Sakhir. However, Lusail stands out thanks to its cutting-edge lighting system that transforms the desert landscape into a glittering racetrack full of energy and tension.

Built in 2004 for MotoGP, the Lusail International Circuit spans 5.419 km with 16 flowing turns and a long straight, making for thrilling overtakes and high-speed drama—all under the desert stars.
